The Israeli Air Force conducted a significant air offensive over the Iranian capital, Tehran, targeting dozens of military installations and a nuclear research center linked to the regime. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation involved more than 60 fighter jets that dropped a total of 120 munitions on various identified strategic targets vital for Iran’s defensive and offensive capabilities.
Among the targets hit were “several missile production industrial sites” in the Iranian capital, which, according to the IDF, represent “the industrial core of the Iranian Defense Ministry.” An official statement released early this morning specified that these were “military facilities dedicated to producing missile components and materials used for rocket engine molding.”
One of the primary targets of the attack was the SPND nuclear project headquarters (Organization for Defensive Innovation and Research), identified by Israel as a key center for the development of advanced military technologies. The IDF noted, “SPND serves as a research and development center for the military capabilities of the Iranian regime. It was established in 2011 by Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the founder of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.”
In addition to the attack on Tehran, Israel also bombed several locations in Western Iran where, according to Israeli intelligence, forces of the Persian regime were attempting to repair missile launchers and warehouses that had previously been damaged.
“In recent days, Israeli Air Force planes identified several attempts by the Iranian regime’s security personnel to rehabilitate launch and storage sites after they had been attacked by the IDF,” stated the army in another announcement.
According to the same source, the operation resulted in the elimination of “dozens of Iranian armed forces soldiers operating in the area”. Data provided by a military official in a virtual briefing to journalists indicated that since the start of the Israeli attacks last Friday, about 200 missile launchers in Iranian territory have been destroyed, representing approximately two-thirds of Iran’s arsenal of launchers.
An official warned, however, that Iran still possesses “more than 100 active launchers, whose offensive capability could cause significant damage to Israel and its urban centers.” In response to Israeli operations, Iran has launched approximately 450 missiles toward Jewish territory, in addition to 1,000 drones launched from both Iranian soil and from Iraq and “other points in the region,” according to the same source.
