Pål Bakke’s group of friends in Ålesund has a tradition of an annual trip to Kiel by ferry. They were also supposed to on Sunday morning. They had been looking forward to a little escape from everyday life in the middle of the Christmas season. German beer, show on board, dinner and good company awaited. – But it didn’t turn out that way. We were stopped at the airport at Vigra with a message that the plane was full. He and five other passengers were stopped, he says. His three other friends were allowed to come on board. There, the friends also saw that the plane was not full. But before that time another message appeared on the screen. Several other passengers who were not allowed to board the plane. Photo: Pål Bakke – Completely incomprehensible – Suddenly we see on the digital boarding pass that it takes 2 hours and 20 minutes from Ålesund to Oslo. But it usually only takes 50 minutes, so I started to wonder what happened, says Bakke. Then they see on the screen that the plane is going to Kvernberget Airport in Kristiansund. – The Sunnmøring in me probably thought then and there that yes, do we get a lot of flights for the money? But when we got to the counter and I was going to check in, there was a big red cross on the boarding board. Photo: Screenshot from Avinor Bakke thus had to take the suitcase back home from the airport, while the rest of the gang were allowed to board the plane. – It is completely incomprehensible, because there is no explanation. It is not rational for a plane to take off and there is an empty seat on the plane and we are left on the ground. The friends have landed safely in Oslo, but they too are frustrated by the incident. – There were also free seats when the plane took off from Kristiansund, so we don’t understand this. That makes the situation extra frustrating, says Per Oskar Mørk Pedersen. news has been in contact with SAS, but has not yet received an answer to the questions. – Empty on the dance floor Pedersen also thinks it is special that the intermediate stop in Kristiansund was added without them being notified. – We take much longer, in addition to the fact that not everyone comes along. It is extra frustrating. Per Oskar Mørk Pedersen and Arild Pettersen are on their way to the Kiel ferry, as is the photographer Roy Carlsen. Pål Bakken, on the other hand, is at home in Ålesund. Photo: Roy Carlsen Three out of four friends are now on the annual Kiel trip, but the last one stayed at home in Ålesund. – The dance floor will be empty! No, we’ll be fine. But it is clear that it is extra sad to lose one at the finish line here, then. We know that, says Pedersen. But both he and Bakke, who stayed at home, emphasize that it is not they who are most to blame. – It is worse for those going to work and seamen who were supposed to muster in Singapore and the Bahamas and out in the world. They have huge problems with crew changes and things like that. He says that they stood there in despair and tried to find other solutions, while he went home. – So I get to send a greeting to these three friends of mine and hope they have a great trip on the Kiel ferry. Then I’ll hold the fort here at home. Published 15.12.2024, at 12.52 Updated 15.12.2024, at 13.02
