Arsenal hosted Everton at home in the Premier League on Saturday. The home team were clear favourites, but captain Martin Ødegaard and his teammates could only draw 0-0 against the bottom team. Everton created by far their biggest chance after only five minutes. Abdoulaye Doucouré was played through diagonally alone with the keeper, but William Saliba had a block at the last second. Ødegaard had two great chances to send Arsenal into the lead in the first half. Unfortunately for the home team, the Norwegian was unable to score from 10-11 meters on the two attempts. A few minutes after the break, Bukayo Saka came close, but Jordan Pickford held on with a brilliant save. Ødegaard was replaced just after the hour, at 0-0. In overtime, Thomas Partey was fouled in the penalty area and VAR spent a lot of time on the situation, but the referee’s decision on the pitch stood, and thus no penalty. Arsenal (3rd place) is six points behind league leaders Liverpool, while Everton is 15th, with 15 points. Jørgen Strand Larsen also went off the pitch scoreless when his Wolves lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich after scoring a match-winner in extra time. Newcastle had no problems at home against Leicester and won 4-0 at home.
