Already a prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, the Bouches-du-Rhône department and the Southern Defense and Security Zone, Georges-François Leclerc held, Thursday, March 13, in Marseille, to explain in its own way the reform which also attributes the functions of prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône police. An administrative restructuring validated, the day before, in the Council of Ministers, with the formalization of the unexpected departure of the prefect of police Pierre-Edouard Colliex, appointed prefect of the Jura.

This reorganization puts an end to a specificity dating from 2012: the presence in the department of a full -service police prefect, like what is done in Paris, detached from the power of the departmental prefecture. “It is an organizational reform, prepared for a few months, whose sole purpose is the simplification of the chain of command”insists Georges-François Leclerc, who ensures that “The means and objectives of the police prefecture remain the same”. If Mr. Leclerc, who now combines four caps, denies “Any back”his appointment sounds like a strong hand over a man who can do little to share the powers. “We are in a period when we are looking for simplification”he assumes.
