Months after its last catalog update, iRobot has refreshed its lineup with the introduction of three distinct  ranges  of  Roomba  vacuum cleaners: the standard Roomba, the Roomba Plus, and the flagship Roomba Max. While the first two categories already boasted their own models, the high-end Max range was previously unannounced. However, that has changed with the launch of the  Max 705 Combo .

A Two-in-One with Several Tricks. The Max 705 Combo Roomba (not to be confused with the Max 705 Vac) is a versatile robot that not only vacuums but also  mops  and  sweeps . While this feature may seem commonplace, the  Max 705 Combo  employs a unique approach to cleaning. Equipped with two anti-tangle brushes for edge cleaning, a central suction brush for dirt collection, and a roller-shaped mop that takes center stage, this device has been designed with user convenience in mind.

Roller Technology. The innovative  mopping  system transitions from traditional cloths to circular mops, signifying a leap in cleaning technology. Dubbed the  Powerspin , this system consists of a roller spinning at 200 revolutions per minute, ensuring efficient cleaning. What sets this roller apart is its capability to clean itself in real time using  hot water , while dirty water is funneled into a small compartment for easy disposal.

And What About the Edges? The Roomba Max 705 Combo offers unique features despite lacking telescopic brushes. It can maneuver the roller to the side, ensuring that corners and edges receive the necessary scrubbing. Additionally, a retractable protective cover is placed beneath the mop to prevent carpets from getting wet. This system shares similarities with the  Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller , showcasing a competitive edge in the market.

Advanced Navigation. iRobot has shifted its navigation technology away from the conventional upper lidar by embedding it directly into the device. This advancement allows the robot to create  3D maps  of your home for intelligent navigation. The Roomba can not only allocate rooms automatically but also navigate in low light conditions. Its front-mounted camera is capable of recognizing various obstacles, including cables, socks, pet waste, and distinguishing between wet and dry debris.

The Base Station. The Roomba Max 705 Combo autonomously returns to its base for  self-cleaning  and recharging. The Autowash base claims to offer up to  75 days  of hassle-free operation, managing cleaning and replenishing water. Notably, it also features a cleaning mechanism for the roller mop, utilizing a  72°C cleaning system  and air drying at  50°C .

Versions and Pricing. Currently, the new Max 705 Combo Roomba equipped with the Autowash base is available for pre-order, with shipments expected in roughly one to two weeks. Priced at  1,099 euros , it enters a competitive arena, going head-to-head with major players like  Roborock  and  Dreame .
