Before the summer, it became known that news was withdrawing from the collaboration with the podcast “Sophie og Fetisha”. The friends and influencers Fetisha Williams and Sophie Elise Isachsen continued to run the podcast on their own, before Isachsen chose to withdraw from the collaboration. The media storm was a fact, and the two who were previously “partners in crime” cut off all contact. The following months have been difficult for Williams. – It was like a fever dream. Totally awesome. But we have no contact, and I’m fine now, says an honest Williams on Lindmo this week. There she casts a critical eye on how the podcast became problematic due to rough content. Tired of women always being role models The climax was reached when news’s presenter Fredrik Solvang asked the broadcasting manager the question of whether the rough sex content in the podcast was good content for news. Williams can understand the criticism, but at the same time that rough talk by women is not justified. – I don’t hear that energy when male podcasters or characters talk about the same thing. And we talked about consensual sex, she says and adds: – I’m a little tired of us women always being role models. I obviously hope that I am a role model for someone, but I can’t hold myself to that standard even when we are having fun, she says. She believes there is a difference in the kind of room you get as female podcasters compared to the boys’ playing room. Fetisha Williams can understand the criticism, but at the same time that rough talk by women is not justified. Photo: Julia Marie Naglestad – We should have held it to a completely different standard. We have to deliver a lot, and take care of all the children who are listening. We are held to a completely different standard than men are. The influencer refers to the episode with comedian Marta Leivestad, who was provoked after serving coarse food in “Rikets roast” on VGTV. The comment field had to close due to ugly comments. In the wake of this, it has been important for Williams to have free rein when speaking on a podcast. – I want to take that room, and I feel I have taken it. We must remember that this podcast is a space for girls, although boys are also welcome. But if you don’t like it, you just have to stop listening to it. – An unprofessional enema The break-up with Isachsen was an embarrassing experience for Williams. – I take my job very seriously, and I don’t have many millions to lean on. Therefore, I depend on people liking me and wanting to continue working with me. I don’t care if Sophie Elise didn’t want to podcast anymore. We were left with an unprofessional enema of tape that we had to take out again. But the breakup was still no easy matter to deal with, and Williams compares it all to Tinder. – I was “ghosted” by her, and it was like a small Tinder breakup, she says, laughing. She wanted to continue with the podcast, but was afraid of losing half of her listeners. But she never thought she would get so much support. – My listeners and followers have really carried me through all of this. I almost get moved when I talk about it. Now her own podcast “Fetisha +1” reigns at the top of the podcasts in Norway, and life is smiling for Williams. – Now I feel very well, she says with a smile. Watch the interview with Fetisha Williams on Lindmo on news TV or on news 1 on Friday at 21:35.
