28 October 2022 at 10:10 Climbing profile must give up frantic record attempt In April, Norwegian Kristin Harila set herself a crazy climbing goal – to beat the world record for climbing all 14 mountain peaks over 8,000 meters in six months. Now she has to give up the record attempt. The mountaineer himself states this in a press release. Harila has not received permission to climb the last two mountains, she writes from Kathmandu, Nepal. The remaining peaks are Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. However, the mountaineer has climbed 12 of the 14 peaks over 8,000 metres. – Right now I am on my way back to Norway to spend time with family and loved ones, writes Harila in the press release. Vadsøværingen still lacked a visa and climbing permit from the Chinese authorities to be able to start on Shishapangma when news spoke to her in September. Cho Oyu could possibly be climbed from Nepal. At the time, she published a video with a prayer to her followers. – I need all the help I can get. Any ideas. Contact anyone who can help me in the dialogue with the Chinese authorities. We have to move fast to beat the record,” Harila said in the video.
