Tour de France: The only moment of concern this week (almost) perfect for Pogacar: “I hope nothing is broken.”

The  Tour de France  is an annual cycling event that captivates millions around the world, combining heart-stopping  competition  with breathtaking landscapes. As the riders transition from the scenic  North  towards the  central massif  of the Pyrenees, the excitement builds. On Thursday, the battle will heat up at  Hautacam , marking a critical point in the race. This year has seen an extraordinary lineup of cyclists, incredible victories, and unexpected challenges.

In  Lille  last Saturday,  Jasper Philipsen  showcased his sprinting prowess, winning decisively. Meanwhile,  Tim Merlier  also claimed victory as the race progressed towards  Dunkerque . His teammate,  Joao Almeida , found himself in a disturbing crash—a crucial blow to the team as Almeida was expected to play a pivotal role in the mountainous stages ahead.

Despite the challenges, Pogacar is expected to finish the upcoming stages with a lead over his main competitor,  Vingegaard . As the French national holiday approaches, the tour features an unprecedented stage filled with steep climbs, testing the endurance and tenacity of all competitors. With  4,400 meters  of elevation, the stage on July 16 promises to be brutal. Yet, Pogacar remains cautious, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the race and the potential strategies of  Vingegaard’s team .
