The other day, a friend asked me how it was possible to keep my house so clean with five cats and during the time when they shed the most. She has two cats and confessed that her floor often looked like a Western movie set, with hairballs rolling everywhere. It’s not magic, and no, I don’t spend all day cleaning . Instead, I strategically use four vacuum cleaners and a well-drawn plan to ensure my home isn’t a hair-covered paradise.
The Vacuum Cleaners
You’re probably wondering why I have four vacuum cleaners . In an age when many vacuum cleaners perform similarly, this may seem excessive, but each one has a unique function. Here’s my tried-and-true lineup:
Roborock Qrevo Curv
My latest acquisition is the Roborock Qrevo Curv , and I couldn’t be happier. It not only vacuums but also mops effectively. With two rotary mops and one that extends to reach corners, this device collects more dust than you might expect. It operates quietly, cleans itself, and can even be controlled via voice commands. My cats absolutely despise it, but the blame lies with them for shedding hair everywhere!
I previously owned another vacuum robot—the iRobot Roomba J7+ —which didn’t meet my expectations. Its suction power was mediocre, and it struggled with navigation.

Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute
If I had to choose just one vacuum cleaner, it would be the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute . It is the most versatile , equipped with various accessories for different surfaces and even upholstery. Although newer models have emerged, this vacuum, purchased in 2021, still operates like a charm. It’s only a matter of time before I replace it, and its battery lasts about 10 minutes on Turbo mode .
Before the Dyson, I had a basic vacuum from Bosch. While it performed adequately, it lacked the power of the Dyson.

HOOVER ULTRAVORTEX
Before using the Dyson, I purchased the HOOVER ULTRAVORTEX for upholstery and mattresses. When I realized that the Dyson came with a specialized upholstery brush, I thought I’d retire the Hoover, but it remains unbeatable. The amount of dirt it extracted from my couch the first time was astonishing. It doesn’t just remove surface hair; it also captures dust and mites, making it invaluable for anyone with allergies.

Blisell Spotclean Pet Pro
Sometimes, my cats vomit on the couch, and that’s when the Blisell Spotclean Pet Pro comes into play. This wet vacuum moistens the couch with a special soap and then extracts the water. The dirty water tank can be shocking—it almost looks black. Despite its incredible power , it is quite noisy, which can be overwhelming.

Other Anti-Hair Gadgets
In case it’s not clear, I’m quite obsessed with keeping everything free of hair. Alongside my powerful vacuums, I have a few handy gadgets, such as:

- Hair Removal Roller (15.99 euros on Amazon) – Perfect for removing hair from fabric.
- Guitar Pick Glove (8.99 euros on Amazon) – Great for quick clean-ups on surfaces.
- Adhesive Rollers (11.99 euros on Amazon) – Classic sticky rollers for clothing.
- Metallic Rake (5.59 euros on Amazon) – Effective at removing hair from my cats.
I’ve also purchased other gadgets that proved to be disappointing , like a silicone rake or cattracks meant for washing machines. Ironically, my cats enjoy playing with them!
My Cleaning Plan
Now that I’ve shared my arsenal against hair, let’s turn to how and when I use them. While it may seem time-consuming, I’ve learned that it’s infinitely better to devote a little time daily than to let hair accumulate and attack it all at once. Automating floor cleaning with the robotic vacuum has been a significant time saver .

- Also vacuum upholstery weekly.
Floors (Roborock)
- Scheduled to vacuum every two days, increasing to daily in summer.
- Weekly program for suction and scrubbing.
Upholstery
- HOOVER: Weekly on couches; monthly on mattresses.
- Blisell: Twice a year on the sofa and as needed for stains.

I don’t brush my cats every day, but during shedding season, I aim for daily sessions. When I manage to brush them, the difference in cleanliness is noticeable. Typically, I use a brush I purchased on Temu, and for intense shedding, I switch to a Furminator.
