The father of Clément Besneville, a young Frenchman who disappeared in April 2024 in Rabat, launched a call to the Moroccan and French authorities on June 20, 2025, to relaunch research efforts. An investigation is ongoing in Morocco, while in France, a complaint for  kidnapping  has been filed.

Didier Besneville, the father of Clément, who has now been missing for over a year, urged both the Moroccan and French authorities to intensify their efforts in the search. “My son’s disappearance has not only deeply impacted our family but also sends ripples through the community. We need answers,” he stated during a phone interview with AFP.

“I Want to Find My Son”

“I’m looking for my son. I want to find my son,” Didier reiterated, emphasizing his  desperation  and the emotional toll of the situation. In his efforts to seek assistance, he has reached out to both French President  Emmanuel Macron  and Moroccan King  Mohammed VI . Clément, who was 29 at the time of his disappearance and held dual French and Spanish citizenship, had moved into an apartment near the sea in Rabat and was preparing to launch a  pizzeria . Tragically, he vanished right before signing a lease on April 15, 2024, leaving his family in utter  bewilderment .

His family reported his disappearance on April 25, 2024, to the local gendarmerie in  Cély-en-Bière, France . The case was subsequently handed over to the French authorities, who in turn passed it on to their Moroccan counterparts.

His Personal Effects Found in His Apartment

According to the  Rabat Regional Judicial Police Brigade (BRPJ) , Clément was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on April 10. His apartment was found intact, with all of his personal belongings, including identity documents, a laptop, a mobile phone, cash, and his glasses, still present. This eerie discovery heightens concerns regarding his well-being. In July 2024, the investigation transitioned to the  National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ)  in Casablanca, which assured Clément’s father that the investigation was ongoing.

On the French front, a lawyer representing the family filed a complaint for  kidnapping  and unlawful confinement with the Melun prosecution office in early March 2025. The French prosecution has since communicated to AFP that they have forwarded their findings to the Moroccan authorities as part of a request for  international mutual assistance .

Didier has conveyed his frustration, stating, “I have no support at all,” while lamenting the emotional toll that the search has taken over the past  14 months . In an effort to garner more aid, he reached out on Thursday to the  National Association Tiphaine for the Disappeared Abroad (Antred) , an organization committed to helping families of missing individuals. This organization was established by the family of  Tiphaine Véron , who also vanished in 2018 while in  Japan .

The case continues to evoke strong sentiments in France and Morocco, as both nations grapple with the  apprehension  that such a  disappearance  entails. The quest for answers remains both a personal struggle for Clément’s family and a matter of  public interest , emphasizing the critical need for international cooperation in cases of missing persons. As Didier Besneville continues to advocate for his son, the global community watches and hopes for a  resolution  to this tragic situation.
