The US and Ukraine have signed a “financial partnership agreement” that gives the United States access to Ukraine minerals, in exchange for establishing an investment fund in Ukraine, CNN writes. The agreement is confirmed by the US and Ukrainian authorities. But neither President Zelenskyj nor President Trump has commented on the deal. The United States and Ukraine have been trying to get an agreement on natural resources since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. The agreement will give the United States the right to investment projects to extract Ukraine’s natural resources, including aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas, says a source to Bloomberg, who first reported the agreement. Worked with for a long time when President Zelenskyj and Trump met in the White House earlier this year, there were expectations that a mineral agreement would be signed. But the meeting ended in a scolding of Zelenskyj. This agreement has been negotiating the countries for several weeks and it was notified that the countries were approaching an agreement. Ukraine was initially concerned about relinquishing too much of the country’s wealth, but the United States believes the agreement will provide Ukrainians against Russian aggression since American companies are active in the country. The US Ministry of Finance calls the agreement an economic partnership that will enable the two countries to collaborate and invest together to secure the reconstruction of Ukraine.
