A number of politicians who received tax penalties in connection with the commuter housing case at the Storting have now been upheld by the Tax Appeal Board, according to their lawyer Hanne Skaarberg Holen in EY. That’s what VG writes. Over two years have passed since the Swedish Tax Agency sent out notices of tax claims to a number of the country’s top politicians. The demands were linked to the politicians’ use of commuter accommodation, where the agency believed that more people should have taxed. Of the 38 politicians who received the decision to pay more tax, eleven politicians chose to appeal the decision. It is unclear how many have been upheld by the Tax Appeal Board. SV politician Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes confirms that he has been successful in his complaint. – I feel a sense of relief, but I am also pissed off for having been put in the light of suspicion, he says to VG.
