Introducing Endless Summer: The App That Creates Your Dream Vacation Photos
There are times when entering Instagram means getting depressed ; people living dream lives while we find ourselves at home in our pajamas. But fear not, because there’s a new app that allows you to join the wave of posturing —one that uses AI to generate fake images of vacation that never existed. Who needs actual vacations when you can invent them ?
Endless Summer: Your Virtual Getaway
The app in question is called Endless Summer and was developed by Laurent del Rey, a member of the Meta superintelligence team. According to a report from TechCrunch, its creator defines the app as “a simple photo booth application to generate fake snapshots of your vacation, for when you feel exhausted and need to manifest the quiet life you deserve.” If you’re burnt out from working long hours, the last thing on your mind is reality; who wouldn’t want to create a life where work doesn’t exist and happiness is abundant?
The Cost of Self-Perception
The app is available for free on iPhone, and you can generate the first two photos without charge. However, if you want to create a larger portfolio of your fake vacation , expect to pay. Specifically, it’s 3.99 euros for 30 images , 19.99 euros for 150 images , and 39.99 euros for 300 images . Users report that the results are fairly convincing; aside from the questionable clothing, many find themselves recognizable in the photos created by Endless Summer . Although the app does not allow you to choose your travel destination, I ended up in a fast-food restaurant in Los Angeles and a quaint cafeteria in Paris.

The Technology Behind Endless Summer
The app utilizes a model known as Nano Banana to generate images. This sophisticated model employs its own prompts to achieve an analog look along with various representations of the user. As an added bonus, Nano Banana can also be accessed within Gemini, allowing users to create their fake vacation photos without incurring any costs—provided they craft a decent prompt.
Meta’s Pursuit of Superintelligence
As highlighted earlier, the mastermind behind Endless Summer is a member of the superintelligence team assembled by Mark Zuckerberg. This team aims to attract top AI talent to the Meta offices for the long-term goal of achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) . Although progress remains somewhat elusive, one recent development from Meta is an app called Vibes , designed for exploring AI-generated videos. However, this launch was quickly overshadowed by Sora 2 from OpenAI . In the background, one of the team members has seemingly ventured into a more frivolous realm with the creation of this app.
