In a tragic turn of events, the  death  of social media influencer  Valeria Márquez  has left many questions unanswered. Just one day after US authorities revealed that  Ricardo Ruiz Velasco , known as  El Doble R , could be linked to her murder, the  Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office  stated they currently possess  no evidence  tying him to the case. They indicated that they would seek more information from their counterparts in the United States.

During a  security conference  held on June 19, officials from Jalisco were asked about the information relayed by the  Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) , which identified El Doble R as the  primary suspect  in the  femicide  of Valeria Márquez, a perpetrator who was reportedly in a relationship with the influencer.

The  Treasury Department’s  website contradicts previous statements made to Infobae México by Jalisco authorities on May 14, when they denied that El Doble R was the main suspect in this case. During the May 19 press conference,  Salvador González de los Santos , the head of the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office, remarked that there was no direct evidence connecting the individual associated with the  Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)  to the crime against the content creator.

“Regarding El Doble R, we currently have no information linking him to the investigation. We maintain strong coordination with the consulate and will communicate with them for any  additional information  that could assist us,” González asserted during the conference.

The ongoing collaboration with US authorities aims to verify if the information they provide is  relevant  for continuing the investigation. The prosecutor indicated that they lack any data or interviews to  charge  El Doble R, but emphasized that they cannot dismiss any potential lines of inquiry. The case is still being investigated under  femicide protocols .

Meanwhile, the  General Coordinator of Strategic Security , Roberto Alarcón Estrada, emphasized that information leaked to the media regarding a purported criminal leader’s involvement in the Teuchitlán ranch should be carefully scrutinized. “Mexican laws require us to conduct thorough investigations and compile evidence-based files,” Alarcón Estrada noted during the press conference.
