The Foreign Ministry is coordinating logistics to dispatch planes from the Armed Forces within the next few hours.

Deployment of Military Personnel

According to reports from Infobae, military personnel are being rapidly prepared for deployment to Venezuela. This contingent will include brigade members, search and rescue teams equipped with dogs, and medical professionals.

Details of the Aid

Spokesperson Adrian Ravier outlined the specifics of the aid package, which includes:

  • Emergency medical teams complete with equipment, nurses, ambulances, and assistants.
  • Three aircraft: an Embraer for 40 passengers, a Hércules C130 from the Argentine Air Force, and an Aerolíneas Argentinas plane.
  • Two water purification plants staffed by 16 operators from the Argentine Army.
  • Experts in collapsed structures and drone operators.
  • Four brigades of the National Search and Rescue System (USAR) with personnel trained in dealing with collapsed structures, floods, and fires.
  • 134 tents and 48 cooking kits.
  • Mattresses, stretchers, and air conditioners for the affected population.

Ravier emphasized the importance of coordination among local authorities, stating that resources will be mobilized effectively to aid those in need.

Argentina’s Solidarity with Venezuela

During this difficult time, Argentina has expressed profound solidarity with the Venezuelan people. The government recognizes the efforts of those involved in rescue and protection operations and aims to provide substantial support.

Official correspondence from the Executive Branch outlines Argentina’s commitment to humanitarian assistance, emphasizing that “beyond governmental differences, the Argentine Republic is prepared to collaborate with any humanitarian needs identified.” This statement reflects a desire for international cooperation.

Communication with Venezuelan Officials

Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno stated he has reached out to his Venezuelan counterpart, Yvan Gil, to communicate Argentina’s readiness to assist. However, no acknowledgment of this communication has come from Venezuelan officials.

Earthquake Details and Aftermath

The earthquakes, registering magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, struck close to Montalbán, an area known for major refining complexes. Current reports indicate at least 188 fatalities, 1,520 injuries, and 157 missing persons.

Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez declared a state of emergency, ensuring public services continue operating amid this crisis. This latest seismic event adds to Venezuela’s history of destructive earthquakes, including significant incidents in 1997 and 1967.
