21 February 2024 at 10:44 The EU adopts new sanctions against Russia The 13th round of sanctions against Russia was adopted on Wednesday, reports the AFP news agency. The Belgian EU presidency confirms that the countries now agree in principle on the sanctions package. It comes a few days before the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions package is one of the broadest so far adopted by the EU, the chairmanship states. 200 new institutions and persons will be added to the sanctions lists. Earlier, the news agency AFP was given access to a draft of the package that has now been agreed upon. The draft included measures against three Chinese companies that have exported to the Russian military. The sanctions will be formally adopted before the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion on February 24.
