3 October 2022 at 11:17 Eskå’s first Norwegian Champions League referees in almost seven years A quartet of Norwegian referees has been given the job of refereeing the Champions League match between Leipzig and Celtic on Wednesday. Espen Eskås from Bækkelagets Sportsklub brings Jan Erik Engan and Isaak Elias Bashevkin as assistant referees for the championship match. Svein Oddvar Moen is appointed as the fourth judge. It is the first time since Moen refereed the championship match between Gent and Wolfsburg on 17 February 2016 that a Norwegian referee has officiated a match in Europe’s best club tournament. Eskås refereed the Europa League match between Monaco and Ferencvaros in the first round. Aftenposten mentioned the case first in Norway.
