A recent video circulating on social media features Vice President  France Márquez  during the inauguration of a  wooden dock  for pangas in  Suárez, Cauca —her hometown, as reported by the web portal Chicanoticias. The footage captures the delivery and commissioning of this structure designed for small vessels, igniting a wave of criticism from various political figures and social media users.

Congressman Miguel Polo Polo did not hold back in his criticism of Vice President Márquez, emphasizing that the price of her  suit  was higher than that of the dock she inaugurated, dismissively referring to it as “Palitos dock.” His remarks underscore a growing impatience among some sectors of bipartisan politics in Colombia regarding the infrastructure developed under Petros’ administration.

Polo Polo, a tireless critic of the current government led by  Gustavo Petro , reacted to the dock inauguration video by implying that the Vice President’s attire reflected a disconnect with the community’s needs. He raised questions regarding the  impact  and  durability  of the dock while criticizing Márquez’s overall management as Vice President.

“More expensive is the suit than the stick spring that was inaugurated, as if it were a great infrastructure work. I should be ashamed. Vice President, and the only thing that led to his town was a wooden jetty that in two years will be rotten or the river will have taken it,” Polo Polo expressed in a post on his X account, raising eyebrows and comments on the nature of the Vice President’s contributions to her community.

Polo Polo’s remarks incited a ferocious debate on social media, inciting various users to express their feelings regarding his comments. For instance, a user identified as @frsalazar82 challenged Polo Polo by requesting a list of his own legislative achievements, throwing his qualifications into question amid the ongoing criticisms of Márquez.

“Honorable senator. Now that we saw the Palitos Bridge, illuminate us with your mega-projects, laws, and achievements as a congressman. Tell us about your successes and goals to help the community,” this user wrote, emphasizing the dual reality of political accountability.

This ongoing critique is not new; Polo Polo has previously targeted Márquez. In February, during the absence of President Petro at the  World Summit of Governments 2025  in the  Arab Emirates , Polo Polo pointed out the lack of prominence attributed to Márquez in government decisions.

Concerns lingered about Márquez’s role, especially when  Minister of Health , Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo, was temporarily appointed to undertake presidential responsibilities. Polo Polo posited that this highlighted the marginalization of Márquez within the current administration.

Polo Polo argued that Márquez’s inclusion in the presidential ticket appeared to be superficially driven by ethnic representation, lacking substantial roles or responsibilities in governance. He suggested that her placement served only as a symbolic gesture rather than a genuine commitment to inclusivity.

“Petro travels to the Arab Emirates and signs a decree in which he leaves the Minister of Health as president. Definitely, France Márquez has it as an ornament. Not a piece of furniture is given less use than this government gives to her,” Polo Polo remarked, questioning the sincerity of the government’s approach to inclusivity and representation.
