Weather Update: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Across Eight Provinces

HABER MERKEZİ – The Meteorological General Directorate has issued a new weather forecast. Residents of eight provinces should brace for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Particularly, regions in western Sivas, eastern Kayseri, and parts of Tokat are likely to experience intense rainfall during the midday hours, including areas in Kastamonu, Çankırı, Çorum, and Yozgat.

Authorities have warned citizens to be vigilant of possible flooding, lightning strikes, hail, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation due to these weather conditions. The following provinces are under yellow-code warnings:

  • Yozgat

Weather Overview

The Meteorological General Directorate forecasts indicate that the overall weather across Turkey will be partly to mostly cloudy. The eastern part of the Aegean Region, the interior of the Western Mediterranean, the Eastern Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, as well as inner sections of the Western Black Sea, Central and Eastern Black Sea, and the northern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia are expected to see showers and thunderstorms.

Temperature: Temperature is expected to be 2 to 4 degrees below seasonal averages in central and eastern regions, while other areas are likely to remain around normal.

Wind: Winds will primarily originate from the north, with southeastern and eastern Turkey experiencing light to moderate winds, occasionally strong (40-60 km/h) during rainfall.

HIGH WIND WARNING: As winds are forecasted to blow at speeds of 40-60 km/h from the southwest in the southeastern Anatolia region, caution is advised to mitigate potential negative impacts.
