– The song is simply about daring to be the one that includes someone you see is a little outside or alone, says Agnete Saba. Together with DJ and producer Matoma, she has written this year’s Blime song that will be launched on Friday 6 June. To find inspiration for the song, the duo thought back to their own time at school. Two different perspectives as a child were Agnete never afraid to take a seat. – I was allowed to be myself a hundred percent. And although everyone was different, and liked different things, everyone was included and was allowed to join the play. Matoma, for its part, experienced being exposed to bullying and harassment by the older children at school. – I had hearing impairment and read and writing difficulties, and therefore became a victim. So I know very well what it is like to be a child and not follow, he says. – Actually, I think that’s exactly why the song was the way it was. We have in a way got all the pages, says Agnete. She and Matoma hope that the song can help. Both for those who need the extra help to ask to join. And for those who don’t quite know how to include those you see are outside. – Something everyone can experience in the fall, Matoma threw himself into the debate on school structure in Inland with skin and hearing, after Flisa school, which is the Matoma primary school, was proposed to be closed by politicians. – Youth and children are the heart and soul of society. We are talking about local communities, the heart in Norway. And then you want to deprive them of it. I am so disappointed, and so sorry, rushed Matoma on the program “Debate” at news. Today he elaborates:-I have been very involved in the school closure debate, and there we somehow get into the core of why I wanted to help make the Blime song. The DJ explains that the message in the song will have the same significance for children and young people in the village, as it will have for children and young people in the city. – Challenges around loneliness and exclusion are something you can experience anywhere in the country, he says. – I think inclusion among children is more important than ever. It is so fast to forget to see each other, and especially when there is so much happening on the phones, Angete continues. – It is so important that we remember to lift our eyes and see the ones you have around you. -Join the joik new for the Blime song this year is that it is the first time an artist is performing both the Norwegian and the Sami version. It is also the first year there is joiking in the song. – It has been a very fun challenge for me as a songwriter and as an artist, says Agnete. She can also reveal that it was originally not to be joik, but that it was Matoma who had a great desire to make it. – I had to explain to him that I could not only make a joik because a joik was to be made. It had to come to me in a way, which it fortunately did, she says, adding: – So now I hope everyone wants to join. This year’s Blime Day will take place on Friday, September 19th.
