Mabel Olemar’s Career Decisions in Peruvian Volleyball League

Mabel Olemar is currently at a crossroads regarding her future in the Peruvian Volleyball League. At 32 years old, the national player is weighing her options between continuing with Italian Sports Circolo, the club she played for last season, or exploring new opportunities for growth and challenge.

Current Negotiations

During her recent appearance on the “Elpoli” program on Radio Ovación, Olemar expressed that while Circolo has the first option in negotiations, her continuation with them is not yet guaranteed. “My continuity is still not 100% closed. There is a possibility of continuing, but there are still a couple of conversations left to confirm. We are still watching,” she stated.

Last season, Olemar played a crucial role for Circolo Sportivo Italiano, leading the team to a seventh-place finish. Although they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Universidad San Martín, her impact as a key squad member was undeniable.

Evaluating Options for Next Season

Despite her solid performance, Olemar’s future with Circolo isn’t assured. She confirmed that she has multiple proposals on the table and remains actively evaluating her next professional step. “Yeah, I have a few options, so I’m still evaluating where to be next season. Some are a little closer to what I want, others not much, but that is precisely why I am analyzing,” she elaborated.

Potential Teams Interested in Signing Her

Mabel Olemar clarified that the proposals she has received come from teams that already completed their participation in the 2025/26 season, which excludes finalists Alianza Lima and San Martín from consideration.

Among her possible destinations include teams that were part of the top 8 but did not compete for the title. These clubs include Deportivo Soan, Atlético Atenea, Regatas Lima, and Universitario de Deportes, as well as Club Deportivo Géminis, which is currently competing for third place in the league.

Setting Priorities at This Career Stage

In her decision-making, Olemar emphasizes that her main criterion is not merely financial, but the opportunity to play significant minutes on the court. “There are many things that I look for. It is in stages; when you are younger, aspects may not seem important, but as time goes on, you reassess your priorities. In my case, I want to be able to play mainly,” she explained.

Olemar also noted that having consistent playing time is vital for her to maintain a competitive edge. She remarked, “I don’t want to claim that I must play all the time, to the point of not being benched even when underperforming. But having the option to play is important.”

Interestingly, she disclosed that she has previously turned down financially lucrative offers in favor of playing opportunities, emphasizing her dedication to both her sport and educational background in sports administration.

Final Thoughts

As she navigates her options, Mabel Olemar’s future in national volleyball remains open. Over the coming weeks, the seasoned player will finalize whether she will stay with Circolo or embark on a new chapter with another club in the Peruvian Volleyball League.
