Jazlyn’s Incredible Journey
The Michou and Mau Foundation recently reported the heartwarming news of Jazlyn Azulet, the baby who survived a devastating pipe explosion on the Concorde Bridge in Iztapalapa. After receiving critical care at Shriners Hospital in Galveston, Texas, Jazlyn returned to Mexico on November 21, having spent two months and five days in treatment for severe burns.
Arrival Back in Mexico
Upon her return, Jazlyn landed at the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City, where she was quickly transferred via ambulance to her home, thanks to coordination from the Capital Ministry of Health. The foundation expressed its gratitude to the American hospital for their exceptional care during her recovery process.
“Jazlyn and her mother arrived in Mexico and were taken to their home in an ambulance belonging to the Benito Juárez International Airport in support and coordination with the Ministry of Health of Mexico City. We thank Shriners Hospital in Galveston, Texas, for their invaluable assistance,” stated the foundation.
A Call for Privacy
Jazlyn’s mother has appealed to the press to respect her family’s privacy during this challenging time, expressing gratitude for the support they have received. The family remains open to sharing updates about Jazlyn’s treatments and progress as her rehabilitation unfolds.
The Tragic Event
The explosion on September 10 occurred while Jazlyn was under the care of her grandmother, Alicia Matías Teodoro, who bravely shielded her from harm. Alicia, a 54-year-old transportation checker, sustained severe burns over 98% of her body due to her heroic act. Her courage earned her the title of “granny heroine” across social media platforms, though tragically, she passed away two days later on September 12.
Initially treated at the XXI Century Medical Center in Mexico, Jazlyn was stabilized before being transported to the United States for specialized care in pediatric burns.
Looking Forward
Now back in Mexico, Jazlyn embarks on a new stage of rehabilitation and treatment for her burn-related injuries. The Michou and Mau Foundation will continue to provide support and updates regarding her progress.
Jazlyn’s return not only signifies a hopeful step forward in her recovery journey but also highlights the collective efforts of various institutions to save her life in the wake of a tragedy that has captured the nation’s heart.
