Alpine A390: The Future of High-Performance Electric SUVs

Alpine, the renowned French automotive manufacturer, is setting the stage for its next chapter in the electric vehicle revolution with the introduction of the Alpine A390. This sleek and visually stunning SUV marks the brand’s commitment to electrification, following the launch of the A290, its first fully electric vehicle.

A Bold Design for a New Era

The Alpine A390 is designed not just as a vehicle but as a statement of intent. Its exterior boasts a streamlined silhouette, often referred to as a “Sport Fastback” rather than a conventional SUV, thanks to its elevated ground clearance and dynamic lines. The vehicle measures 4.62 meters in length, which is 15 centimeters longer than the Renault Scénic E-Tech, thus showcasing its robust and muscular appearance.

The front section features aggressive air intakes and a distinct triangular motif that serves as a signature design element. Meanwhile, its rear exhibits captivating LED signature lighting, making it instantly recognizable on the roads.

The Alpine A390 offers six body paint options, including the striking Alpine Vision Blue showcased in official images, solidifying its position as a head-turner.

An Interior Built for Comfort and Performance

Step inside the A390, and the interior is just as captivating. The cockpit design closely resembles that of the Renault Scénic E-Tech but incorporates exclusive elements like a sporty steering wheel and a gear selector inspired by the A290. A 12-inch vertical touchscreen serves as the command center, powered by Android Automotive, featuring Google Assistant and integrated navigation.

The dashboard sports a 12.3-inch customizable digital instrumentation cluster to provide essential driving information. For tech enthusiasts, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a welcome addition.

With a generous wheelbase of 2.71 meters, the A390 offers ample space for up to five passengers, ensuring comfort for all. The rear bench is particularly commendable, and the vehicle boasts a cargo capacity of 532 liters, making it practical for everyday use.

Power Trains: Unmatched Performance

At the heart of the Alpine A390 lies a dedicated AmpR Medium platform, specifically engineered for electric vehicles. While many electric vehicles feature a single motor, the A390 sets itself apart with a powerful setup of three motors—one at the front and two at the rear.

Customers can opt for either a GT version delivering 400 horsepower (accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds) or a more performance-driven GTS model with 470 horsepower and a staggering 808 Nm of torque, achieving the same acceleration in just 3.9 seconds.

The Alpine Torque Vectoring system optimizes power distribution to enhance agility, complemented by a Launch Control feature and an Overtake button that temporarily boosts performance.

Cutting-Edge Charging and Sustainability

Equipped with an 89 kWh battery manufactured in France, the A390 boasts an impressive range of 555 kilometers on a full charge (WLT cycle). Leveraging bidirectional charging, it can supply energy back to the grid, adding to its eco-friendly credentials.

Quick charging capabilities allow for juicing from 15% to 80% in under 25 minutes at a maximum of 190 kW. Its onboard charger supports 11 kW, upgradeable to 22 kW, facilitating efficient charging options.

Made in France: A Commitment to Local Production

Excitingly, the Alpine A390 will be produced in Dieppe, France, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to local craftsmanship. It is anticipated that the model will qualify for ecological bonuses in the country, provided the base price remains under €47,000.

The pricing for the A390 will start around €65,000, reaching up to €76,000 for the highest-performing version. Orders are expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2025, with deliveries likely commencing in early 2026.

This stunning vehicle paves the way for a new era in electric performance while staying loyal to the Alpine spirit of adventure and engineering prowess.

One year after the A290, Alpine unveils its second electric car, the new A390. This high-performance SUV produced in France will be equipped with three motors, producing close to 500 horsepower.
