This is revealed in a proposal that the three clubs have submitted for consideration by the Confederation in 2023. – The play-offs gave us more matches at a somewhat higher level, but there was a lack of support around the matches, increased sporting load at a time when we want to play in Europe, and it became a demanding unpredictability, says chairman Pål H. Thorsen of Brann Kvinner to BA , who mentioned the case first. The three clubs propose removing the play-offs in the Topperserien, increasing the number of teams and looking at the possibilities of a Scandinavian tournament for the top teams in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The setup has previously been tried on the men’s side with the Royal League. It only lasted between 2004 and 2007. – The Royal League has become a loaded term, but Brann’s men had both a sporting and financial gain from it.
