Paris welcomes the agreement between the Kurds and the Syrian acting president
France praised, Tuesday, the agreement to integrate into the Syrian State all the institutions relating to the Kurds, seeing there “A positive step towards a negotiated and peaceful solution for the unification of Syria” and a ” guarantee “ Kurdish rights and interests.
The agreement was signed on Monday by the Syrian acting president, Ahmed al-Charaa, and the head of the Syrian Democratic Forces (FDS), dominated by the Kurds, Mazloum Abdi, for an application scheduled by the end of the year.
France, which underlines to have there “Contributed in connection with its American partners”add that she “Will continue its efforts to facilitate dialogue between the Syrian transitional authorities and its Kurdish partners in northeast Syria”according to a press release from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesmanChristophe Lemoine. “France recalls its attachment to the implementation of a process of peaceful political transition, which represents all the components of Syrian society, with a view to the construction of a free, united, stable, in peace, sovereign and fully integrated into its regional environment and the international community”comments Christophe Lemoine.
The head of French diplomacy, Jean-Noël Barrot,, for his part, reacted to violence in Syria. “France condemns all the abuses against civilians, whatever the communities to which they belong, which were the result of groups affiliated to the regime of [l’ancien président dictateur] Bashar al-Assad or to terrorist groups who have been responsible for the abuses against the Alawite and Christian communities in recent days ”he said. “We went to Syria to defend the interests of the French and their security, security against terrorism, security against the proliferation of chemical weapons. “It was in Syria, ten years ago, that attacks against national territory were fomented and this is the reason why French diplomacy is fully mobilized to control these risks, starting by facilitating mediation between the Syrian Kurds and the transitional government”he continued.
