– We have some challenging weather in Troms and Finnmark. In Troms, the snow cover is disintegrating in many places, and there is slush and difficult driving conditions, says Lillian Myrnes at the Road Traffic Center in Northern Norway. Driving conditions in Finnmark are also challenging, according to Myrnes. – In some places it is very slippery. Over Sennalandet in West Finnmark there is also strong wind and snowy weather, so visibility is poor. But it is currently open for free driving then. Lillian Myrnes says a column can be introduced at short notice. Several cars have ended up in the ditch The difficult driving conditions have meant that several cars have run off the road. But there should be no personal injuries. – At Sennalandet we now have some downhill runs. A wagon train and three passenger cars. It is on a fairly short stretch where there has been a bit of poor visibility. But there is no drama about it. It’s just that they have driven in the snow shovel. Lillian Myrnes asks everyone to drive according to the conditions. – Take it easy and drive according to the conditions. If visibility is poor, slow down. Expect heavy rain The Meteorological Institute has on Sunday afternoon issued an orange warning for very heavy rain in parts of Nordland, Troms and Western Finnmark. Within 24 hours, 50–90 mm of precipitation is expected, and locally even more. At the same time, a yellow danger warning has been issued for flooding in the same area, as well as a yellow danger warning for landslides, mudslides and flash floods. The event will in many places be among the strongest in the last 10 years for this time of year, the meteorologists warn. Published 08.12.2024, at 20.12 Updated 08.12.2024, at 20.40
