Cat of the year 2023 – news Oslo and Viken – Local news, TV and radio

White, black, brown, grey, orange and variegated. Short-haired, long-haired, curly and completely furless. 1,200 kitties from all over the country have been entered in the competition to become this year’s “luscious cat”. A little charmer from Trøndelag went all the way to the top of the selection. Sushi is only 8 months old, but she is a firecracker of a cat. Although she is deaf, she is both fearless and curious. – I think the title is well deserved. She is the most special cat I have come across, says owner Ingrid Martinsen. Sushi loves everything that flashes and shines. Christmas is therefore the favorite holiday. Photo: Ingrid Martinsen This Christmas is Sushi’s first. She has already become familiar with the Christmas tree. – She loves everything that flashes and shines, and everything that is new, so I haven’t dared to have so many decorations up, says Martinsen. But the competition was fierce. You can see some of the furballs that almost reached the top here: Ferrari got its name by mistake. She is neither fast nor Italian. But she’s red and needs a lot of love to purr, so maybe the name isn’t so wrong after all. Photo: Magnus Henningsmoen Melis is mostly concerned with tending to her own needs, but she flashes a little mercy every now and then. Like here in the picture when she decided to let the mouse live! Photo: Eva M. Aasheim Skipskatta Salma Fløtelabb likes best on the reindeer trap in front of the fireplace or sleeping on the bathroom sink. Favorite snacks: boiled cod and cucumber. Photo: Ragnhild Ølstad (Yes, we still know that fluffy cats are a type of yeast baking. If you want to grab a bowl, you can find the recipe for fluffy cats without fur here). Kattepusen: – Challenging It was a tough task for the jury to find this year’s winner. They have arrived at a winner by looking at picture quality, charm and personality. Lucy is named after Lucia. Photo: Kristin Furulund Ivi is a bit upset with her owners because they don’t appreciate the gifts she brings into their bedroom at night – in the form of live mice. Photo: Andrea Kanavin Grythe Albus is a talkative guy weighing 8.5 kilos, who sometimes sounds like a crow. For now, he has left the Christmas tree alone. Photo: Hilde Myklatun The jury has consisted of three people: Kattepusen known from Maskorama Veterinarian Stine Lois Nilsen at Fredrikstad animal hospital Journalist and cat owner Sara Vilde Solås Between song rehearsals, Kattepusen has taken time to judge other kitties. Photo: Espen Solli / Monster – Beautiful cats all together and of course a challenging task. As you can tell from the descriptions, they all have unique personalities and mean a lot to their owner. It warms a veterinarian’s heart, says Nilsen. The mischievous look of Sushi, and the posing in the Christmas tree, melted the hearts of the jury. – The picture gives me a clear sign that she is a firework of a cat as she sits ready for a cat inside the Christmas tree, says vet Nilsen about the winning picture. The journalists in this article do not know Kattepusen’s identity, but Kattepusen has voted for his favourites. The cat hasn’t had time to answer questions, but it would certainly say “Meow”. See more of the submissions: Kaktus has an impressive Santa beard. He hates fish and only drinks tap water. Kaktus is a yarn thief who prefers mohair and pure wool, and he only vomits on woolen blankets in the middle of the night. Photo: Sara Langvik Berge Linus does not have a single naughty hair on his body and wants to be friends with other cats. He can do tricks like his own, give paws, jump and roll around. Photo: Emilie Vang Havi and Hassel are two very charming and even slightly scared young ladies. They were caught in a colony on Hasvik by the Animal Welfare Department in Finnmark with helpers. Photo: Ina Mari Strifeldt According to the owner, Måns Pepper is the cutest bully in Ålesund. Photo: Aleksander Nørve Lusia loves a fire in the fireplace, being brushed and brown cheese. The owners must be careful about the bread slice, otherwise a small piece will quickly disappear. Photo: Mathilde Aakre
