By announcing that he had initiated, Wednesday, April 30, a dissolution procedure targeting the Emergency Palestine collective, the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau attacks the spearhead in France of the mobilization in favor of the Palestinian people since the breakup of the war against Gaza, triggered by the terrorist massacre of Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Palestine emergency, which is not an association and therefore does not have statutes, or official representatives or premises, is a collective born a few days after the start of massive Israeli reprisals against the Gaza Strip. It is carried by several independent personalities, including the Palestinians Omar Al-Soumi and Rami Chaath.

This collective distinguished itself by organizing events of solidarity with the Gazaouis very early on. First, for a period of almost a month, they were prohibited before being authorized, at least in Paris, by the administrative court and then by the prefecture. Emergency Palestine swarmed in the provinces, recruiting a new generation of Propalestinian activists, younger than the usual supporters of the France Palestine Association (AFPS), more marked by a decolonial and more radical discourse in its criticism of Israel. In addition to demonstrations, Palestine emergency has launched several complaints aimed at militants or Franco-Israeli soldiers for complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity.
