The two formerly powerful football leaders were charged with fraud in November last year. The prosecution in the case believes that Blatter and Platini should be sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of 20 months, in addition to fines. In 2015, Blatter and Platini were banned from football for four years after a corruption scandal that included a money transfer between them in 2011. It amounted to two million Swiss francs (18.5 million Norwegian kroner). The money was paid out personally by Blatter. At the time, Blatter was president of Fifa, while Platini was president of Uefa. Blatter and Platini have consistently denied any wrongdoing, citing a verbal agreement they made more than 20 years ago.
