Recent Drug Manufacturing Operations Disrupted in Sinaloa
In a significant operation, security forces have seized a clandestine laboratory along with an area designated for the concentration of chemicals used in drug production in Sinaloa. This operation, carried out primarily in Culiacán , highlights the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in the region.
On June 15, agents from the military were conducting reconnaissance when they stumbled upon two facilities . This led to the discovery of various materials and chemicals, which were reported shortly after the initial findings. The Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) in Sinaloa elaborated on the findings, noting that the location contained two metal condensers and an industrial reactor with a capacity of 100 liters .

In addition to the equipment, various substances were discovered in 50-liter containers and a 200-liter tub:
- 240 liters of toluene
- 120 liters of muriatic acid
- 100 liters of ethyl alcohol
- 55 liters of isopropyl alcohol
- 50 liters of acetone
- 50 liters of a yellow substance labeled “Tato”
- 40 liters of an unknown dark brown semi-solid substance .
Following the seizure, local authorities were notified, and the hazardous materials were subsequently destroyed. This operation was a coordinated effort involving members of the military , the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection ( SSPC ), the Navy Secretariat (Semar) , the National Guard , and both the Federal and State attorney general’s offices.
Images shared by state authorities depict agents in special suits handling the discovered substances . Notably, no arrests were reported following this operation.

Ongoing Violence Against Security Forces
In separate incidents, on June 14, an armed attack was reported against members of the Municipal Police in the capital of Sinaloa, ruled by Governor Rubén Rocha Moya. The attack occurred in the Las Vegas neighborhood , resulting in three officers suffering serious injuries.
At approximately 6:30 PM, armed civilians opened fire at agents of the Secretary of Public Security and Municipal Transit (SSPyTM) .
On the same day, Omar García Harfuch, the head of the SSPC, announced the deployment of 400 security personnel and over 1,000 military personnel to bolster security measures in the state. This comprehensive effort, aimed at enhancing safety in Sinaloa, showcased the commitment of both local and federal authorities to tackle escalating violence.
“By instruction of President @Claudiashein, General Ricardo Trevilla and I traveled to Sinaloa to reinforce our presence with 1,200 Mexican Army troops and an additional 400 members from the @SSPCMexico. Our commitment to Sinaloa is permanent,” the official shared on social media.
As Sinaloa continues to grapple with the challenges posed by drug manufacturing and violence, these coordinated operations by security forces serve as a critical response to an ongoing crisis.
