3 December 2022 at 19:51 A person found dead after a fire A person has been found dead after a fire in a residential building on Bøstad in Lofoten, the police report. It was shortly after 07:00 on Saturday morning that the police received a report about the fire. When the emergency services arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. Due to the risk of spreading, neighbors were evacuated. They have now been moved back. – There was information that a person was possibly inside the house when it started to burn. The person had not been accounted for and a search was launched in the immediate area to check whether the person could have got out, writes operations manager Ina Kristin Selfors in the press release. Crime technicians from the police have been to the scene of the fire and a dead person has been found. – The police have every reason to believe that it is the missing person who has been found. The deceased is a man in his 70s. Relatives have been notified. It is too early to say anything about the cause of the fire, but the police have no suspicion that the cause of the fire is a criminal offence.
