A Compact and Lightweight Watch
The design of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 closely resembles the Apple Watch, with a hybrid look between the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro and its predecessor, the Watch Fit 3. The design features a slightly curved glass display and rounded corners, making it aesthetically pleasing.
This watch is compact, measuring 43.0 x 38.0 x 9.5 mm and weighing only 27 grams without the strap. Constructed from aluminum alloy, it prioritizes a light profile over the sturdiness found in titanium or steel.
Additionally, with a 5 ATM water resistance rating, the watch can withstand splashes and rain without issue but should not be used for diving. Unlike premium versions, the watch features a standard glass display, making it somewhat prone to scratches.
The case features a square display with two side buttons: an elongated button and a rotating crown that also serves as a button. Several perforations for the speaker, microphone, and barometric altimeter can also be found on the case.
The strap uses a proprietary attachment system, which is available in nylon gray or fluoroelastomer in white, purple, or black. Users can easily customize by choosing compatible straps from the Watch Fit series.
A Quality Display
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 features a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 408 pixels, boasting a pixel density of 347 pixels per inch. It’s a solid display, akin to the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, only differing by four fewer pixel rows in width.
The main difference in display quality compared to the higher-end model is brightness. While the “Pro” version can reach up to 3,000 cd/m², the Watch Fit 4 caps at 2,000 cd/m². This brightness is sufficient for most conditions, even in direct sunlight, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 or the Apple Watch Series 10.
Moreover, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 has a light sensor to automatically adjust brightness based on surroundings. It also includes an always-on display mode, showing essential data like the clock continuously. A “sleep” mode can be set to deactivate the always-on display at night.
Finally, the Watch Fit 4 comes pre-installed with 12 watch faces, with more available for download through the Huawei Health app. Each face indicates its power consumption level, and some are customizable.
A Complete Interface, but Too Few Compatible Applications
Exceed the ordinary: the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro is designed to meet all challenges
This ultra-thin and lightweight watch made with titanium and sapphire glass provides professional analysis for outdoor sports: integrated golf maps, route tracking for water sports, offline contour maps for trails… All with up to 10 days of battery life.
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 is compatible with both Android smartphones and iPhones, provided you download the Huawei Health app first.
The watch features the same functions and navigation as the Huawei Watch Fit 4. It’s advisable to check the detailed review of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro for specific details.
Overall, the interface is intuitive with practical controls, numerous applications related to sports and health, the ability to make calls, respond to notifications, and view widgets. However, it lacks as many third-party applications as seen in Wear OS or watchOS.
Highly Effective Sports Tracking
The health and sports tracking capabilities of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 mirror those of its predecessor. It retains the same arsenal of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer for compass use, optical heart rate sensor, and a barometric altimeter.
GPS Accuracy of the Huawei Watch Fit 4
For geolocation, it’s equipped with a multi-GNSS dual-frequency chip that supports GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou, and QZSS.

GPS, GNSS, dual-frequency: understanding geolocation in smartphones and connected watches
I ran several times with the Huawei Watch Fit 4 and compared its measurements with those of a reference sports watch, the Garmin Fenix 8. The distances and plots were analyzed in various environments: urban, in an open park, and on a track.
| Runs | Reference | Huawei Watch Fit 4 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 (Track) | 10.799 km | 10.740 km | -0.50% |
| Run 2 (Urban) | 11.012 km | 11.010 km | -0.02% |
| Run 3 (Park) | 10.211 km | 10.200 km | -0.11% |
| Run 4 (Park) | 11.017 km | 11.090 km | +0.66% |
| Total | 43.039 km | 43.040 km | +0.002% |
Overall, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 provides measurements very much in line with the high-end Garmin watch. Interestingly, both watches beeped to signify when a kilometer was reached with only a second or two’s difference.
The track records for both watches were similar, performing well in both open parks and more constrained urban environments.
Heart Rate Precision of the Huawei Watch Fit 4
Equipped with an optical heart rate sensor, this watch is capable of providing real-time heart rate tracking. However, it does not utilize the latest generation of Huawei’s technology, which is found in the Watch Fit 4 Pro and other models.
To evaluate heart rate tracking accuracy, I compared measurements over various workouts with a reference heart rate monitor, the Polar H10+.
| Reference Measure | Huawei Watch Fit 4 | Average Error | Average Error After 10min | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Average HR | 159 bpm | 157 bpm | -0.71% | -0.63% |
| Max HR | 171 bpm | 168 bpm |
| Reference Measure | Huawei Watch Fit 4 | Average Error | Average Error After 10min | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Average HR | 163 bpm | 161 bpm | -0.94% | -0.85% |
| Max HR | 189 bpm | 190 bpm |
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 manages to effectively track heart rate changes not only during steady-paced runs but also during intense interval workouts. Despite its older sensor, it still provides highly reliable heart rate tracking.
Health and Sports Features of the Huawei Watch Fit 4
Unlike the “Pro” version, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 does not offer an electrocardiogram feature. It tracks heart rate throughout the day, blood oxygen saturation, and heart rate variability to estimate stress and recovery levels.
Moreover, it supports local mapping for route tracking during sports activities. Users can program complex sessions targeting speed or heart rate along with recovery periods. It’s also possible to customize displayed data during workouts.
Finally, the Watch Fit 4 is capable of analyzing your sleep patterns, tracking daily step counts, the number of times you stood up, and calories burned.
Comfortable Battery Life of Over Four Days
Powered by a 400 mAh battery, Huawei claims the Watch Fit 4 can run for a maximum of 10 days, 7 days with standard use, or 4 days with intense usage.
I tested this by enabling all settings: always-on display, sleep tracking, real-time heart rate monitoring, and continuous stress and SpO2 tracking.
Under these energy-intensive conditions, I used the watch for 4 days and 16 hours before it died. During that period, I also utilized it twice for outdoor running, totaling 2 hours and 5 minutes with GPS tracking.
The charging setup includes a wireless charging block connected to a USB-A port, which Huawei claims can fully charge from 0 to 100% in one hour. This was confirmed, taking just 59 minutes in my testing.
Additionally, the watch supports Qi wireless charging, allowing it to be charged on any compatible wireless charger or even with your smartphone if it has reverse wireless charging capabilities.
Calls and Communication
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 connects to smartphones via Bluetooth version 5.2.
Equipped with a speaker and microphone, it facilitates phone calls as long as the smartphone is nearby. The sound quality is good, both for voice capture and speaker output. However, the watch lacks an eSIM chip, which means it cannot make calls independently.
As previously mentioned, it supports multi-GNSS dual-frequency for enhanced geolocation, ensuring a quick and accurate GPS fix.
Price and Release Date
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 has been available in France since May 26. It comes in four colors—black, pink, white, or gray—and is priced at €169.99.
