– Disappointing – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– This is disappointing. I had hoped that equal pay for equal work would also have come to the Norwegian Football Association in 2022, says Anette Trettebergstuen (Ap) to news. The Minister for Culture and Equality reacts strongly when she is informed that there are salary differences between the A national team coaches in the Norwegian Football Association (NFF). Just after the new appointment of Hege Riise as national team manager on Wednesday, football president Lise Klaveness could confirm to news that Riise does not receive the same salary as the men’s national team coach, Ståle Solbakken. – Is it a lower salary than the manager of the men’s national team? – Yes, it is. It is the market forces that govern the salary of the A men’s manager, but I am not going to go into numbers there. What has been important to us is that the position of national team manager is remunerated at the same level as the president, said the football president. STATED: Anette Trettebergstuen believes the salary differences between the national team coaches should not have been there. Photo: Geir Olsen / NTB Desire for equal pay level news has submitted Klaveness’ criticism from Trettebergstuen. She replies as follows: – I wish it were the case that the market for top coaching jobs on the women’s side of professional football was at the same salary level as on the men’s side. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Klaveness further says that they are trying to close this pay gap somewhat, and at the same time reveals that the pay is on par with the position of president. – We have raised the salary level for the national team coaching job for A women to the level that applies to the NFF’s top elected leader, she says. SALARY: Klaveness says that they have started from the salary of the former coach, but have now tried to settle on a level that corresponds to the president’s salary. Photo: Fredrik Varfjell / NTB Not negotiated Hege Riise, who led Norway to silver in the J19 EC earlier this summer, was, as many expected, presented as national team manager on Wednesday. The 53-year-old reveals that there were no salary negotiations when she signed the contract. – There was a proposal there, which is somewhat in relation to equal pay and how the football association has put it. So I’m happy with that, says Riise to news. – The men’s national team manager earns more than the women’s manager, Klaveness confirmed to us. What do you think about it? PRESENTED: Riise is including Ingvild Stensland in the coaching team. Photo: Trond Reidar Teigen / NTB – I haven’t thought too much about that. I did not know that. – Do you feel that it is unfair? – I don’t really want to comment so much about salary. It is the association’s business, Riise replies. – Of course stupid NFF was the first association in the world with equal national team pay for female and male players. In 2017, a historic agreement was signed that ensured equal pay for the national teams. Former national team player Ingrid Moe Wold reacts to the fact that they have not come as far on the coaching side. – Of course it’s stupid. We were one of the first confederations to ensure equal pay for players, so I think that the coaches should have the same conditions, says Moe Wold to news. REACTS: Ingrid Moe Wold is also disappointed by the pay differences at coaching level. Photo: Annika Byrde/NTB / NTB The Women’s National Team’s framework was almost doubled in the new salary agreement in 2017, and the initiative was praised both nationally and internationally. Nevertheless, Moe Wold believes that there is a way to go – and refers to the difference in coach salaries. – There are a number of things that still need to be addressed. I think that the NFF, as the leading confederation in Norway, should take the lead, she says.
