Jon Bolstad is stepping down as managing director of Sjukehusapoteka Vest – news Vestland

A joint board was informed today that Jon Bolstad has resigned from his position as managing director of Sjukehusapoteka Vest. Departures take place after a turbulent spring at the hospital pharmacy in Bergen. Several employees have given notice, the Norwegian Medicines Agency has been under supervision and several have resigned from their jobs. In a press release, Bolstad says that it has been a content-rich, exciting and rewarding year. – At the same time, the last few months in particular have been tough, not least for various managers and employees, with a lot of unrest and strong pressure. – Therefore, I think that right now the organization can be ignited with someone else at the helm to take the work further, he says in the press release. Pharmacy manager sounds the alarm In February this year, pharmacy manager Pål Espen Johannesen appeared on news where he sounded the alarm about the conditions in his own health care company. The pharmacy supplies important medicines to the whole country, but Johannesen thought they were not capable of delivering a number of sterile medicines. Sterile drugs are, among other things, important when drugs are to be injected into the body of a patient. Johannesen therefore chose to send a report of concern to the Norwegian Health Authority and the Norwegian Medicines Agency. Blei was threatened with the sacking In addition to Johannesen, two other employees at Sjukehusapotheket in Bergen came forward to report the situation at the pharmacy. The big concern was a water plant which they thought was too old, and which has been out of operation over time. The pharmacy needed the equipment to produce sterile medicine. At the same time as Johannesen announced, the management at Sjukehusapoteka Vest, led by managing director Jon Bolstad, considered firing the pharmacy manager. This led to 50 employees writing an extensive letter of support, in which they asked the pharmacy management to end the dismissal process against Johannessen. Shortly after the notification, Hospital Pharmacy Vest hired the consulting company Deloitte to map out routines for notification cases related to the Hospital Pharmacy at Haukeland Hospital in Bergen. The male laying is not yet finished. Will probably get million-dollar severance package Chairman Helge Torgersen says in the press release that he respects Bolstad’s decision. He says to BT that he thinks it was right for Bolstad to consider resigning. – There is supervision from the authorities hanging over us and unrest on the “floor” in the organisation. All in all, I needed to get the organization into a more constructive mode, he says to the newspaper. In the press release, he thanks Bolstad. – On behalf of the board, I would like to express a big thank you for the work he has done to strengthen Sjukehusapoteka Vest as an organization and as a contributor to providing good health services, says Torgersen. BT also writes that Bolstad will receive a million-dollar final package. The chairman does not want to say what severance package he will receive, but indicates that he will receive what is regulated in the contracts for managers in Sjukehusapoteka Vest. According to the newspaper, Bolstad earned NOK 1.87 million last year, and is entitled to back pay for a year if he is dismissed or resigns himself following “a request from the chairman of the board/the board”. Lene Svanberg Jacobsen has now been appointed as managing director. Since 2008, she has held the position of pharmacist for the Hospital Pharmacy in Haugesund.
