Local health authorities initially reported that around 70 people were injured. The figure was updated a little later: 150 people are said to have received minor injuries, while 5 people have received less serious injuries. The trains collided at Montcada station in Reixac outside Barcelona at 07.50, writes the newspaper la Vanguardia. The accident happened when one of the trains ran into the other which had stopped at the station and was full of passengers. This led to many falling, writes the newspaper El Mundo.
