Significant Power Outages Affecting CABA and Buenos Aires Province

An important blackout struck the northern part of Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA) and several areas within the province of Buenos Aires

Impacted Neighborhoods and Areas

The neighborhoods primarily affected include Palermo, Belgrano, Recoleta, Colegiales, Villa Devoto, Villa Pueyrredón, Chacarita, Caballito, Saavedra, Villa Ortuzar, and Villa Urquiza, among others.

In the greater metropolitan area, particularly the Conurbano region, Vicente López, Munro, Florida, Martínez, San Martín, Boulogne, and Tigre have all reported power outages. Additionally, the western areas such as Haedo, Ciudadela, Caseros, 3 de Febrero, Ramos Mejía, and Santos Lugares have also faced disruptions.

Transportation Disruptions

The disruptions in power have led to significant issues in transportation. On social media, residents reported multiple traffic lights out of service, making navigation challenging, particularly in busy intersections like Cabildo Avenue and Alvarez Thomas Avenue.

The official Subway account noted that line D was interrupted, causing major inconveniences as no trains were operational. Line H, while still functioning, was experiencing considerable delays due to the outage. Most of the other subway lines, however, continued to operate normally.

Furthermore, the Miter train line faced cancellations on both the Miter and Suárez branches, as did the Coast Train. Although the San Martín train line faced delays, the Sarmiento branch remained unaffected.

Restoration Efforts Underway

As confirmed by Infobae, both Edenor and relevant organizations responsible for monitoring energy consumption are currently investigating the root cause of the outages. Interestingly, the ENRE, Edenor, and CAMESSA control pages are down, complicating the situation further.

Reports have indicated that efforts to restore power are gradually underway in certain areas. Early assessments suggest that a cut in high-tension cables in the northern metropolitan region may be the culprit behind this widespread blackout.
