Discovery of the Body in Tucumán
Around midnight on Monday, two fishermen traversing a rural area in Guasa Rincón, Tucumán, stumbled upon a corpse displaying signs of extreme violence. The body belonged to a man who had suffered significant trauma, including a mutilated hand and multiple severe cuts to the head.
Initial Police Response
Witnesses to the grim discovery promptly notified local authorities. Police swiftly arrived at the scene near Aguilares to secure the area and commence an investigation. Upon examination, they found the adult male lying face down, exhibiting a multitude of cut wounds primarily on the scalp and the nape of the neck.
Experts determined that the cut to his right hand was “clean,” indicating the potential use of a sharp weapon. Additionally, the victim’s belongings remained intact, leading investigators to dismiss robbery as a motive and consider the possibility of a premeditated attack.
Investigation and Motives
As reported by local news outlet The Voice, the assailant likely launched a precise surprise attack, evidenced by the absence of struggle marks at the scene. Autopsy results are anticipated to provide crucial details surrounding the cause and time of death, as well as the specifics of the injuries inflicted.
The victim, identified as 50-year-old Javier Ariel Sarmiento, had been reported missing by family members who last heard from him around 7 p.m. that same day. Authorities confirmed his identity through relatives who were present at the scene.
