Bodø/Glimt out of the Europa League – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

Bodø/Glimt’s sad away statistics thus continue. There was no victory against scoreless Zurich either. As PSV beat Arsenal at the same time, second place is unattainable for Glimt, who are also not sure of playing further in the league. To do that, they must take points against PSV at home next week. Glimt led at half-time, but eventually lost 2–1 in Switzerland. Glimt’s leading goal came a bit against the run of play in overtime in the first half. Center stopper Nicola Katic had full control, but was sloppy with the clearance. Glimt used it perfectly, and Amahl Pellegrino was able to thump the ball into the roof of the net. Then a somewhat imprecise Bodø/Glimt struggled with the home team’s counterattacks for large parts of the half. Fortunately for Glimt, Zurich’s strikers and decisive passes were not very precise either. Therefore, it was easy for Glimt players to walk off the pitch after Pellegrino’s goal. But Zurich turned the game around. The defending champion in the secret league, who has yet to win there, took over the game and the chances. They missed two great chances before the equalizer came. Nikola Boranijasevic stood where he was supposed to on a return after Jonathan Okita had hit the crossbar, and it was 1-1. It could have been worse. Seven minutes before the end, Ole Selnæs put in a corner towards Marchesano, who hit it almost perfectly with his head. Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin melted the ball into the crossbar and down. The ball hit the ground on the inside of the line, but not over. So no goal. Zürich kept up the drive against Nikita Haikin, and got paid for their efforts three minutes into overtime. Antonio Marchesano was credited with ending the attack that gave the home team victory.
