The parents reported that Carmen Perez claimed to have utilized part of the funds for her daughter’s medical emergency, insisting that her child was hospitalized in an intensive care unit in Lima. Despite her initial promise to provide a full accounting and return the funds, parents have not seen any reports or reimbursement thus far.
Parents expressed their frustration, stating, “All the parents and the treasurer were summoned to report the balance. She never arrived, only messaging us about her hospitalization.” This situation has left many bewildered, as the treasurer’s excuses shifted; she later claimed to be hospitalized due to a head surgery.

The parents remained skeptical as there were multiple instances where the treasurer failed to provide clear statements on the monthly collections. Reports were postponed repeatedly, further eroding trust between the school’s families. Despite maintaining communication through a messaging group, the treasurer’s credibility diminished day by day.
The discontent among parents is palpable, especially considering that funds were meant to cover not only the promotion party but also the purchase of souvenir diplomas for students graduating this January. The mothers are adamant that they want the funds returned in order to hold a proper celebration for their children.
Similar Incidents in Nearby Schools
This kind of misappropriation isn’t an isolated case. Recently, at Innova School in Los Olivos, another treasurer, John Gutierrez, faced similar accusations. He admitted to the misuse of more than 20,000 soles of the funds raised for the promotion party, which totaled approximately 25,000 soles.
Gutierrez issued a notarized commitment to return the funds, making an initial deposit and promising to repay the remaining amount by the end of November. His case raised significant concerns among parents, as many felt misled after he had previously pressed them for payments.

The affected families are demanding real guarantees for the reimbursement of their stolen money and want to ensure that the promotion party takes place on the scheduled date. The repeated breaches of trust have led to calls for accountability and more stringent oversight in handling school funds.
