We have a new folding to tempt ourselves: it’s about Honor Magic V5, a smartphone that bets on this unique format but does so with an increasingly relevant component: AI.

Thus, Google Gemini becomes a fundamental part of the experience of using a terminal that is full of good specifications to convince us of something that should be obvious: two screens are better than one.

Guarantees Hardware in a Finer Foldable than Ever

If there is a clearly noteworthy element in the design of the new Magic V5 Honor, it is the extreme thinness of this folding terminal, which in one of its versions boasts a thickness of only 8.8 mm (9.0 mm in another version). The manufacturer claims this is “the thinnest folding smartphone in the world” to date.

The evolution from the Honor Magic V3 is evident, and maintaining that extreme thinness remains a clear goal. A quick reminder: this new terminal is called “V5” instead of “V4” because in China, it is believed that the number four brings bad luck, a concept linked to Tetraphobia.

We are faced with a folding mobile that has an exterior screen of 6.43″ diagonal, and when unfolded, it extends that diagonal to 7.95″. The resolution of both AMOLED panels allows for extraordinary pixel density (404 ppi), and it achieves a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

This device also features a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite, complemented by 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. This combination is particularly crucial for one of Honor’s standout features: AI capabilities based on Google Gemini.

Pressing the power button launches Google’s assistant, aiding users with writing, planning, learning, and various other tasks. The company has made it clear that it will not miss the AI wave and plans to invest $10 billion over the next five years.

Another innovative way to activate the assistant is through the “TAP TAP” system, which involves double-tapping the back of the device, eliminating the need to unlock it or open an application. AI functionalities also extend to photography and real-time translation of calls in six languages.

The terminal is set to launch with Android 15 and Magic UI 9.1, but it will likely be one of the first to receive Android 16, as Honor assures. Additionally, they promise seven years of Android updates and security patches in the EU.

This mobile excels in photography, featuring impressive megapixels: 50 MP for both the main and wide-angle cameras, and 64 MP for the telephoto lens, plus 20 MP for each of the front cameras, one on the interior screen and one on the exterior.

The battery boasts a capacity of 5,820 mAh, and Honor emphasizes that 15% silicon content in the battery cells enhances longevity. Users can enjoy fast charging up to 66 W, as well as a wireless charging capability of up to 50 W.

Versions and Price of Honor Magic V5

The Magic V5 Honor will hit the European market on August 28, 2025, available in three colors: White (Ivory White), Black (Black), and Gold (Dawn Gold) with the configuration of 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Its recommended retail price is 1,999 euros.
