He is at the top of a mountain, does not presume luxury and does not even reach four stars. But the First World Hotel has something that no other hotel can claim: 7,351 operational rooms . It is officially recognized as the largest hotel on the planet in this regard. This was certified by the Guinness World Records in 2015, and it is proudly displayed on the website of the First World Hotel.
The hotel complex is located in the heart of Resorts World Genting in Malaysia. It features an organization of three towers: Tower 1, Tower 2, and Tower 3/Y5. Guests have direct access to essential amenities, such as First World Plaza, Skyavenue, the covered park Skytopolis Indoor Theme Park, and the Genting International Convention Center.
A City Inside a Building: Managing a Hotel with Over 7,000 Rooms
Sometimes, stars deceive. One would expect the world’s largest hotel to also be one of the most luxurious. However, the First World Hotel does not market itself in this manner. In Malaysia, stars are assigned by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac). Here, there are no butlers, but there is strict cleaning and automated check-in procedures, along with an accreditation of “Clean & Safe Malaysia” with a 100% score.
Once inside, the logical question arises: what to do next? In both First World Plaza and Skyavenue, there are stores, restaurants, an indoor attraction park, and even a convention center, all conveniently enclosed within the building.

</div>One of the highlights is the Skytopolis Indoor Theme Park, which boasts more than 20 attractions spread over 400,000 square feet. This park remains open all year round, independent of weather conditions. Quick and affordable dining options can be found at the Lobby Café and The Junction, where the famed Nasi Lemak wrapped in banana leaves is said to be “probably the best in Genting.”

</div>Managing such a vast hotel requires precise systems in place. The First World Hotel operates like a well-oiled machine: check-ins are completed via kiosks, digital keys are generated through an app, and strict rules govern furniture arrangement and non-transferable reservations. The hotel clearly states that you cannot rearrange furniture or bring in electronic appliances. Given the enormity of managing over 7,000 rooms, any exception could disrupt the entire operation.

</div>Spa and gym facilities are available, but they are not located within the First World Hotel. Guests can access these amenities at the Genting Grand, another hotel in the resort, at an additional cost.

</div>Why is this hotel situated in Malaysia, instead of a major tourist capital? This is not an isolated hotel; it is part of a project that emerged in the sixties. The founder, Lim Goh Tong, envisioned a resort in 1965 situated atop a mountain, cooler than Kuala Lumpur, and tailored for family entertainment. The company outlines this vision in its corporate profile and official history. This led to the development of Resorts World Genting, which includes casinos, shopping centers, theme parks, and hotels that cater to all budgets. The First World Hotel serves a critical function by providing mass accommodation. Its location is strategic; it doesn’t need to be in a capital city since the resort itself functions as a small city.
<img alt="If you are a millionaire, the last thing in Madrid is not living in a luxury hotel. Is living in a "Branded Residence"" width="375" height="142" src="https://i.blogs.es/e5e549/bc25df02b99d2d5bad00736ad86acc5c-scaled/375_142.jpeg"/>Since Guinness recognized this hotel, the new data about its 7,351 rooms has attracted even more curiosity. It continues to lead over giants like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which boasts “almost 5,000 rooms” according to the resort’s own claims. What’s intriguing is that First World achieves this without luxury suites or premium services; it succeeds with compact rooms and a well-designed operational model.
No one has yet taken the title. This fact speaks volumes not just about the size, but also about the sustainability of a model that, despite its unlikely nature, continues to function smoothly every day.
