Then came the unfortunate accident. While indulging in the breathtaking views of the Costa Brava, Anabel fell and injured her elbow. She later recounted that the pain she experienced was akin to the agony felt during childbirth, a comparison she did not take lightly. Taking to Instagram, Anabel shared a video detailing her experience. “Hello everyone, the first thing I wanted to say is a huge thank you to all the people who have been messaging me on both Instagram and WhatsApp,” she began. “I only have one working hand, and I feel utterly useless.” Though recovering, her reliance on audio messages highlighted the difficulty she faced with even basic tasks.
In her video, she shared more about the specific circumstances of her fall. “I was carrying a bottle and milk in one hand, my mobile in the other, and I wasn’t paying attention.” That lack of attention led to an abrupt and painful fall. “I tripped over a step, my ankle twisted, and I landed hard on my elbow. It felt like I had broken it,” she explained, emphasizing that the pain was excruciating. The severity of her injury and the memory of the pain evoked vivid memories of her previous childbirth experiences.
The ordeal was compounded by the wait for an ambulance. “I spent 40 minutes waiting, and when they finally arrived, they took me to the nearest hospital,” she described. While receiving treatment, Anabel admitted that the experience was overwhelmingly distressing. “I don’t want to exaggerate, but it was horrible,” she confessed.
Returning to her home in Seville, Anabel reflected on the challenges she now faces. With her right hand incapacitated, she expressed feelings of clumsiness and frustration. “Right now, I feel very useless. I can’t even hold my baby properly,” she lamented, revealing that her daily tasks now require assistance. “Even something as simple as putting on a rubber band or squeezing out toothpaste has become a struggle,” she added, visibly upset.
During her recovery, Anabel has sought comfort in a familiar space—her mother’s house. “Every time I have a hard time, I just want to be with [my mother] Merchi,” she disclosed. It was evident that even at 39 years old, the comfort of her mother’s care was something she deeply cherished. “I want to be in my bed, in my room, enjoying her cooking,” she noted fondly.
In the coming days, Anabel plans to see a specialized traumatologist to ensure her elbow is properly set and to assess if any extensive damage occurred. “I want to make sure everything is in place, that nothing is broken, and to find out how long I’ll need to be in a cast,” she explained, suggesting that this unfortunate event might alter her upcoming plans.
