Numerous Arrests in Aldama Municipality Lead to Major Drug Bust

In a coordinated operation highlighting the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies, elements of the State Research Agency (AEI), the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), and the National Guard conducted a successful intervention in the municipality of Aldama, Chihuahua. This operation culminated in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of a staggering array of firearms and illegal substances.

The operation focused primarily on the  San Jerónimo neighborhood , where authorities discovered a  Nissan NV350 vehicle  from 2017 parked at the intersection of Ninth and Ojinaga streets. Inside this vehicle, agents uncovered a terrifying arsenal, including  eight rifles  (five of the 7.62×39 caliber and three of the .223 caliber), as well as  22 magazines, 320 cartridges, 13.44 kilograms of marijuana,  and seven tactical vests. This haul was promptly handed over to the  Federal Public Ministry  for further investigation.

Suspects Linked to Criminal Organizations

In an additional segment of this extensive operation, law enforcement officials apprehended Víctor RG, a 37-year-old man accused of illegal firearm possession and attempted homicide. It’s been reported that he claims allegiance to a criminal group known as “La Mayiza.” Agents seized a 7.62×39 caliber weapon, 22 cartridges, a Chevrolet Malibu, and a GMC Acadia vehicle from him. Some reports indicate that he is intricately linked to the broader Sinaloa Cartel network.

Further complicating matters, a woman by the name of  Hilda Karina DC , aged 34, was arrested after she attempted to intervene and prevent Víctor’s arrest, facing charges for disobedience and resisting authority.

Additional Arrests and Drug Seizures

The operation did not stop there. At the Avenida Air Avenue and Chihuahua-Aldama road, officers detained Samuel Abdel RC, a 24-year-old who was found in possession of 0.8 grams of cocaine and two grams of methamphetamine (referred to as “glass”). Samuel was driving a Volkswagen Jetta that was not reported stolen, adding yet another layer of complexity to the case.

In the  La Abundancia neighborhood , three additional suspects— Efrén Hilario HM, Adrián Alexis CB,  and  César Uriel OA —were arrested. During the search, agents recovered  31 cartridges  of the 7.62×39 caliber and several packages of marijuana. All detainees were consequently lodged into the care of the  Public Ministry of the Unit Specialized in Narcomenudeo Crimes  for further processing.

Connections to Drug Cartels: The Cabrera Sarabia Cell

Infobae Mexico has reported that these apprehended individuals are believed to belong to the Cabrera Sarabia cell, a faction operating under the notorious Sinaloa Cartel. This group is reportedly aligned with Ismael Zambada Sicarios, known locally as El Mayito Flaco, who is thought to be one of the principal leaders within the cartel.

Moreover, there are rumors suggesting that the  Cabrera Sarabia faction is in a territorial dispute  with the  Juárez Cartel’s  armed wing known as  “The Line.”  This ongoing rivalry has made the  Ojinaga-Benavides-Coyame-Aldama  region a battleground for supremacy, leading to increasingly volatile situations and violent skirmishes.

Implications of the Operation

This multi-agency operation exemplifies the significant challenges faced by law enforcement in regions plagued by drug-related violence and crime. The variety of firearms and illegal substances seized reflects the ongoing struggle against the pervasive influence of drug cartels in Mexico. The implications of these arrests extend beyond the individuals involved; they signal both progress and the ongoing difficulties in dismantling highly organized criminal networks.

As authorities continue to target these criminal factions, the priority remains clear: to restore safety and stability to communities affected by drug trafficking and violence. The crackdown in Aldama serves as a reminder of the relentless fight against  organized crime  in Mexico, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts among federal and state law enforcement agencies. Given the ongoing hostilities among rival cartels, it is certain that this conflict will continue to demand the attention and resources of law enforcement entities for the foreseeable future.
