This weekend, the Transit in Lima will undergo significant modifications due to scheduled school parades and the admission exam at the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM). These changes aim to accommodate the events while ensuring traffic fluidity and minimizing inconveniences for passengers.
The urban transport authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) has informed the public about the specific deviations that different public transport lines will implement during this weekend. The changes primarily target routes that experience high traffic volumes, allowing for smoother transit amidst potential disruptions.
On Saturday, July 12, the Lince district will host a school parade accompanied by various civic activities that will restrict vehicle circulation on several local streets, notably César Vallejo Avenue. Public transport buses will be rerouted to ensure minimal disruption, utilizing alternate paths such as Jr. Alberto Alexander, Av. César Canevaro, Jr. Almirante Martín Guisse, Av. José Leal, and Jr. Pachacútec.
On Sunday, July 13, the public transport routes will again alter due to the admission exam of La Molina Agrarian University. Buses will operate on adjusted routes, specifically through La Fontana Avenues, Flora Tristán, and Av. La Molina in both directions. ATU advocates for passengers to stay informed regarding these changes to avoid delays or other travel complications.
Furthermore, ATU has announced that on Friday, July 11, the service for Northern Terminal Aerodirect Buses will also undergo a temporary route modification. This change results from a civic school parade taking place on Peru Avenue, effective from midnight. As a result, bus stops along that avenue will be suspended.
Passengers heading to the Jorge Chávez International Airport are encouraged to plan ahead, as the affected stops will not be operational. This necessary adjustment aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the school events.
Despite these changes, the remaining service of the Northern Terminal Aerodirect will continue to operate as normal, with modified routes to ensure connectivity. The recommended alternative route for affected passengers is: From October 12 in San Martín de Porres, continue on Av. Lima, enter Quilca, then to Elmer Faucett and conclude at Av. Morales Duárez.
The Northern Terminal Aerodirect service was introduced to enhance the connection between Metropolitan Lima and the new Jorge Chávez airport terminal. Just recently, on July 5, the North Terminal Aerodirect route was inaugurated, significantly enhancing links for passengers from various parts of the city.
This new route, established by ATU, aims to meet the burgeoning demand in the northern sector. David Hernández, the head of ATU, emphasized that this initiative is pivotal in addressing service needs directly from inside the land terminal, diminishing the reliance on informal stops, thereby enhancing safety for all travelers.
To cope with this increased demand, 10 additional units have been integrated into the fleet, boosting both the frequency and capacity of the service. Typical service routes include major thoroughfares such as Túpac Amaru, Naranjal, Canta Callao, Elmer Faucett, and Morales Duárez, seamlessly connecting passengers to the airport.
