As for his accolades, I checked them out a year ago—none of them … He has been a good player, all well, but he cannot be compared to me," he stated.

He dismissed the comparison, labeling Carrillo as “pecho frío” (cold-hearted) and implying that the rivalry stemmed from character issues rather than talent.
“They keep bothering me with this theme. They asked Carrillo about this, who seems to have a fridge, an iceberg in his chest. I wasn’t bothered, but honestly, look, I have five titles, which are my five children. That’s it,” Vargas quipped, adding that he found Carrillo’s remarks out of line.
On Other Controversies
Vargas also addressed comments made by Christian Cueva, who recounted a heated argument between the two during a team concentration. Cueva claimed to have thrown a barrage of bottles at Vargas. However, the former national player categorically denied this account, questioning Cueva’s reliability and the context of the interview.
"Also, interview the beer drinker, who says I got hit with bottles … You were there that day in the room (to Farfán), when did I get hit by bottles? He threw and they didn’t hit me. Did you interview him drunk or what?" Vargas commented.
