I never had the opportunity to showcase what I was capable of in a Red Bull, so my confidence doesn’t change much.” This was articulated following the Canadian Grand Prix as he addressed media personnel in the paddock.
The young driver, 23, underlined that the perception from the team does not align with his personal sentiments, claiming, “That’s not my story or words, so I don’t agree with that stance.” His critique highlights a stark contrast between Lawson’s own feelings and the narrative pushed by team leadership.

The driver switch has not alleviated issues for Red Bull. When asked whether the struggles of Tsunoda offered him any sense of vindication, Lawson reasserted his focus: “If someone else has problems in that car, that’s not something I should be concerned about; I’m just focused on doing the best work in the car I have.”
