Firefighting efforts at the company site in Berlin-Marzahn continue. – Teknomers

A  massive fire  broke out on Sunday evening in Berlin-Marzahn, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services. The flames, which engulfed multiple warehouses and large quantities of goods, were said to be under control as reported by the fire department on Monday morning. The firefighting efforts are expected to continue well into the afternoon, and firefighters will need to retrieve miles of hoses after extinguishing the flames.

The fire affected three large  warehouses , several trucks, and a significant amount of wooden pallets and assorted materials, covering an area of approximately  3,500 square meters . Many calls from concerned citizens reported the sizeable blaze, particularly from the Pyramidenring area. Notably, the incident was marked by several  explosions , as detailed by reports from local media outlet B.Z..

The emergency response included  225 firefighters , with additional support brought in from the airport fire service. The rapid deployment of firefighting personnel was credited with preventing a further spread of the flames.

On the premises affected by the blaze, you can find a  DHL delivery base  and a facility operated by the construction company  Eurovia .

Due to the substantial  smoke development , residents in the vicinity were alerted via the warning app  Katwarn  to keep windows and doors shut, and to turn off air conditioning units. Fortunately, there were no reports of individuals being in  danger  from the fire.

Smoke and flames were visible from considerable distances, and videos shared on social media platforms depicted tall plumes of smoke rising from the scene.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but reports suggest that a  suspect  has been apprehended. A spokesperson for the  Berlin police  declined to comment on this information when contacted by the Tagesspiegel.

As a result of the incident,  Landsberger Allee  at the height of the Pyramidenring was entirely closed to traffic until the morning hours. Public transport services in the area were also affected as authorities worked to manage the emergency response effectively.
