Seventeen-year-old arrested for five attempted murders, reports Teknomers.

Kiel. Five individuals have been reported to suffer  severe to life-threatening injuries  in  Kiel’s Gaarden district  due to a  series of knife attacks  between  Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon . All victims sustained stab wounds, necessitating hospitalization, with two of them reported to be in critical condition at times. At around  6 PM , the  Kiel police  apprehended a  17-year-old Bulgarian  on  Preetzer Street , who is currently thought to be responsible for the last of the five attempted homicides. Investigators are examining whether there is a connection between this attack and the previous four incidents, as stated by police spokeswoman  Stephanie Lage .

All five victims had to be treated in the hospital due to  serious injuries , with police and prosecutors categorizing the five incidents as  attempted homicides .

Alleged Knife Attacks in Kiel: Initial Incident on Tuesday Evening

The series of attacks reportedly began on  Tuesday evening  in  Karlstal, Kiel-Gaarden . Police forces discovered a  26-year-old Iraqi  and a  40-year-old German citizen  around  9:44 PM , both suffering from stab wounds inflicted during a  knife assault . One of the victims sustained severe injuries, while the other was in life-threatening condition.

The following day, police encountered a  41-year-old Afghan  kiosk operator at  Vinetaplatz  around  10:45 PM , who had also been seriously injured in a knife attack and was subsequently hospitalized.

Five Attempts at Homicide in Kiel’s Gaarden District

While the police were still active at Vinetaplatz, a  28-year-old Bulgarian  arrived at a  Kiel hospital  and reported being injured on  Kaiser Street . He claimed that a man had fled the scene after the attack. Initial searches by the police proved unfruitful.

On Thursday, the situation changed when police officers were approached by a  31-year-old German  man with stab wounds on  Mühlenstraße  around  4:15 PM .

17-Year-Old Arrested by Kiel Police on Thursday

The information provided by this man apparently led to the  Kiel police  identifying the primary suspect. Approximately two hours later, they apprehended the  17-year-old  on Preetzer Street.

The teenager is currently in police custody and is expected to appear before a detention judge upon the request of the  public prosecutor’s office  by the end of the day in Kiel.

Police Plan to Intensify Knife Controls in Kiel-Gaarden

In light of the ongoing investigations, the  Kiel police  also announced that they would  enhance knife controls  in  Kiel-Gaarden . Due to a recent surge in knife attacks, police have already been conducting intensified focus operations at key locations, including the Gaarden district.

“In light of the current events, the police will further increase their presence in the area and will conduct more rigorous checks,” said police spokeswoman Lage.
