The recent changes state that **no bags** are allowed inside the stadium, making it particularly challenging for female fans like **Sabella Eskelin**. “It’s quite hard to get in as a woman,” she expressed outside the arena.
With the aim of minimizing security risks, fans must stash all their belongings into their pockets. Some have taken creativity to the next level, adding **extra pockets to their clothing** specifically for the championships, and others have ingeniously hidden items like **medical supplies** beneath their jerseys.
One of the primary concerns for female fans involves the **transportation of feminine hygiene products** during the tournament. “Women can have heavy periods. We have to be in the arena for four hours, and we can’t bring any women’s products inside,” noted **Camilla Pohjonen**. Despite the inconvenience, she acknowledges the reasoning behind the security measures.

Both Eskelin and Pohjonen are confident that fans are finding clever ways to sneak items inside. “They just ask you to raise your hands when you enter. They don’t check under shirts at the door,” Eskelin explained.
The travel agency informed Sabella and her friends about the bag ban beforehand, so they were prepared for the situation. However, fellow fans **Mira**, **Tiina**, **Anu**, and **Maarit** find the practice quite peculiar. “We haven’t seen anything like this anywhere else in the world – not at concerts or other events,” they remarked. They even reached out to the event organizers to clarify how essential medical items like **epipens** could be brought inside, as they can’t be left outside.
The Challenge of Carrying Essential Items

The group of women, adorned in **Leijona costumes**, generally carries small backpacks filled with essentials for the games. “We usually have a small backpack with a hoodie, t-shirt, power bank, wallet, glasses, sunglasses, chargers, and a brush to keep the leijona hair looking sharp,” they explained.
However, they expressed concern about the **size and weight of cosmetics and phones**, which are cumbersome to carry in pockets. Additionally, the bag ban affects the local shops near the Avicii Arena. “There is a shopping center next to the arena, but it doesn’t encourage customers,” they observed. Long lines at the coat check made leaving bags there impractical, and fan merchandise bought at the venue could not be taken to the fan zone after the game.
Despite all these regulations, the group believes that fans are finding ways around the bag restrictions. “Security doesn’t check all pockets, so truly anything could be sneaked in,” they speculated.
