The Israeli government of Benyamin Netanyahu renounced on Tuesday April 29 to dismiss the head of internal security, Ronen Bar, the day after the announcement that he would leave his functions on June 15, reveals a judicial document.

“The government has decided to cancel its decision of March 20, 2025” To dismiss Mr. Bar, mentions the document sent the same day by the Prime Minister’s office to the Supreme Court, which specifies that the legal procedures in progress against the decision of this dismissal “So no longer have to be”.

Ronen Bar announced on Monday that he will leave his duties on June 15, after weeks of tensions with Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, who initiated a procedure to dismiss him.

“After thirty-five years of service, in order to allow an ordered process of appointment of a permanent successor and a professional transfer, I will end my functions on June 15, 2025”said Mr. Bar at a commemorative ceremony within his agency, according to a statement. He challenged his dismissal by intending a legal action which deeply divided the country.

According to Israeli media, the extinction of the legal proceedings makes it possible to stifle the public debate which surrounds it and which puts in difficulty the government.
